Computer Entry Level Award in Using ICT
Beginning the IT Journey
This is a hands-on course in using ICT, which teaches individuals of any age how to use a range of software packages through practical and realistic tasks. Learners have the chance to develop their knowledge and understanding – and, most importantly, their skills.
The Entry level 3 qualification is suitable for:
those who are new to the skills and knowledge required to use a computer and wish to start learning some of the basics
those who are already employed and wish to develop their knowledge in new areas to help them in their working lives
parents who want to help their children with their homework
This qualification contains four units:-
UNIT 1: DISPLAYING INFORMATION USING ICT
• Create a simple text document with pictures
• Basic text formatting
• Spell-checking, printing and saving
UNIT 2: USING ICT TO FIND INFORMATION
• Floppy Disk
• By Using the Internet
UNIT 3: COMMUNICATING INFORMATION USING ICT
• Sending and receiving basic e-mails
• Using the address book and inbox
• Opening and printing e-mails
UNIT 4: PRODUCING CHARTS USING ICT
• Key in text and numbers
• Create pie charts, bar/column charts and line charts
• Add headings to identify chart content
• Add labels and percentage values to identify pie chart sectors
• Add axis labels to bar/column and line charts
Candidates must achieve three of the four units in order to achieve the full award.
All of the units are centre assessed and externally moderated by OCR. There is no requirement for candidates to work towards the units in any particular order – the units are number for reference purposes only.
